Hello 5th graders!

You have been reading, discussing, and learning about the Civil War to answer the essential question: How did the Civil War impact people?

Here are two new passages for you to read to learn about civil war uniforms, and the role African Americans played in the civil war.

After reading each article, take a 10 question quiz (click on the link to the quiz at the bottom of the article).

You can also listen to a recording of the article also found at the bottom of the page.

Spend enough time practicing how to read fluently. This means you are reading the words correctly, pausing on commas, stopping on punctuation marks, and reading with expression. A fun way to do this is to see how many words you can read in one minute, so set that timer!

Listen to original  audio stories, myths, fairytales, and even poems and songs!   You can also write your opinion about the stories, songs, or poems in the comment box. Take time to read the comments of other kids too, and see how your opinions are the same or different.

Listen to podcasts about different topics, then engage in hands-on projects and activities.  An example is building your own bridge after listening to the podcast, The Past and the Curious - Bridges.

Explore tons of teacher-created quizzes in different subjects. Play the solo practice! If you like Kahoot, you will also like this. It is fun! You can skip the signing up part.
